Laurent Baheux
Featured Artist – March 2025
Laurent Baheux, born in Poitiers, France, in 1970, is an acclaimed photographer known for his striking black-and-white wildlife images. His work captures the individuality of animals, portraying them as sentient beings rather than mere subjects. Originally a sports journalist, Baheux turned to nature photography in 2002 after a transformative trip to Tanzania. His work highlights the beauty and fragility of the natural world, promoting conservation through collaborations with WWF and UNEP. His artistic philosophy aligns with that of Zimbabwean artist Tonderai Mujuru, who also uses his art to advocate for wildlife preservation. Both artists create compelling narratives that emphasize the deep connection between humanity and nature, inspiring action to protect endangered species. Through different mediums, Baheux and Mujuru invite us to see wildlife not just as part of our world but as beings with their own spirit and story.
